If you find the home of your dreams and put in an offer without pre-approval, the seller may not accept it. If they have no proof that you can provide the funds to buy the house, they probably will have several other offers that do have proof. That proof is a pre-approval. A lender will investigate your finances to determine how much mortgage you can afford. It’s an easy process, but you need to get it done before you start looking for a home. Some items you will want to have close by:
- Government ID
- Employment Letter
- Paystubs
- 2 years income history
- Proof of Assets
- Recurring expenses
